Christian Expression and thought muzzled in California

Christians Who Voted for Schwarzenegger Now Paying the Price, Says Activist
By Allie Martin and Jody BrownAugust 30, 2006

(AgapePress) - The president of a Sacramento-based pro-family group says recent actions of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger prove that Christians must examine candidates and get involved in politics. At the same time, another family advocate in the Golden State is urging Christian families to rethink putting their children back in public school in the coming days.

Earlier this week the Republican governor signed into law SB 1441, a measure which could force Christian colleges to either abandon biblical standards on sexuality or reject students who receive financial aid from the state. The bill adds sexual orientation to already existing provisions in the state's law that prohibit discrimination on the basis of, among other things, race, national origin, ethnic group identification, religion, age, sex, color, or disability.

As pointed out by one pro-family group in the state, the law could potentially prevent parochial schools such as private, Christian, Catholic, Mormon, or other faith-based educational institutions from receiving student financial assistance if they also maintain a code of conduct that prohibits homosexual behavior as immoral based on their religious beliefs.

Unite! A Public Defense of Christian Expression

Here is why we have to be concerned about the freedoms we cherish in Canada. As you will find out the message is shocking. It is a dramatic presentation of the disturbing degree of bigotry and harassment that is targeted against Christians TODAY in Canada.

I do agree that Canadians do not yet face the same severity of persecution as Christians do in some other countries but, the mentality that under girds Canadian anti-Christian bigotry is the same. Left unchallenged, it will foment. Unless Christians put a stop to it by recognizing what is taking place and get involved while they still have the freedom to do so, anti-christian bigotry and persecution will continue to increase.

Whats wrong with Dissent?

As I flip through my Saturday morning newspaper or when I change the channel on my television set, I can't seem to get away from them. Is it just me, or are liberals hijacking every aspect of our culture? They have infiltrated Hollywood, have infiltrated the media, and now they are telling me how I am to think. I've had enough! I'm cancelling my globe and mail subscription and I've reduced my cable subcription to Fox News. I'm tired of the spin, and the voice of just a few.

What is so wrong with disagreeing with gay marriage? What is wrong with being pro-life? What is so wrong with cherishing my traditional family? What is wrong with attending my true Christian church that helps me lead an accountable life? Christians have been demonized and vilified for far too long and I am taking a stand for my Christian world view.

As a young Christian man, it is my duty to become a light on the hill and become like salt to help preserve and flavour the culture of our time. Our world needs a little more dissent and it is my goal to do just that.
