Encouraging the Values Vote in Nashville

James Dobson: “I have never seen such hatred in my life. I am being bludgeoned”
Children Will Be Targeted if States Change Marriage Definition, He Warns

By Gudrun Schultz

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 20, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The social consequences of a liberal victory in the coming elections will be grave, particularly for children, Dr. James Dobson warned in a radio broadcast urging pro-family voters to go to the polls.

Dr. Dobson accused the national media of attempting to influence pro-family voters to stay home. Despite media efforts to convince “values voters” that the issue of homosexual marriage is no longer of central importance, Dr. Dobson said, activists’ push for same-sex “rights” is increasingly focused on the next generation.

“Children are being targeted,” Dr. Dobson stated. “If one of these states do not confirm traditional marriage, adoption laws will change. Those put in foster care will be placed in different kinds of homes, the training foster care parents receive will be consistent with the homosexual perspective.”

Dobson said the key significance of the coming elections is evident in media attacks on pro-family supporters.

“I have never seen such hatred in my life. I am being bludgeoned,” Dobson said, making reference to an NBC broadcaster who allegedly referred to him as ‘the worst man in the world.’ “Why? Why now? Well, it’s not really personal to me. But they identify me as one of the people who turned out the values voters last time--and they are determined to never, ever let it happen again.”

“If people of faith--the so-called values voters--don’t come out and let their voices be heard, there are going to be some major implications for this country”, he said. “There are these statements from the media that values voters don’t care this year and that they’re going to stay home.”

Recent efforts by the California legislature to pass a measure mandating the inclusion of pro-homosexual material in all public school curricula, beginning with kindergarten, was a vivid example of the child-oriented goals in the homosexual activist movement, Dr. Dobson pointed out.

“Teaching five year olds about adult perverse behavior instead of fairy tales is unconscionable.”

While the California measure was vetoed on the last day possible by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, it had passed the Assembly and Senate by a wide margin despite a national and state-wide outcry by parents and pro-family organizations--an example, Dobson said, of the lack of any accountability on the part of those behind the pro-homosexual movement.

Whats at stake in the coming American Election?

The New York Times in its editorials are saying that the Values Voters will not be coming out in full force like they did in the 2004 election. They cite that not enough has been done about advancing new abortion restrictions or a proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The marginalization of the christian voice in this continent continues. It is the democrats hope and strategy that the value voters will not be coming out in 2006, and the prominent left wing media in the country is again on side.

The November vote is so important to the fight that many of us Christians have been fighting for some time. If Same Sex Marriage is amended in the constitution it will will crumble the solid foundation that made America great. America like Canada was built on the strength of the tradtional family. Yur children will be harmed through the indoctrination in the public schools of the acceptance of the homosexuality, bisexuality and the transgendered lifestyle. Those that dissent will be thrown in front of the courts, and forced to defend themselves for beliefs that Americans have had for hundreds of years. (its happening in Canada)

The media continues to hate anything that has traditionalism in it. Some call this Christophobia. The liberal media feels that anything with values, family and morals as bigoted and hateful. These militant attacks will continue, but we cannot let the loud voices of a minority trump your rights to conscience and expressions.

It was in part value voters that won the Canadian election in January 2006 and we are seeing many signals that Stephen Harper cares about this segment.
1. The court challenges program was cancelled (a left leaning, anti-traditional tax payers fund that supports social reform)
2. David Brown appointed to the Ontario Superior Court (Christian Lawyer)
3. Implemented pro family policies (Child Tax Credit Benefit)

The year 2006 has finally been a year that the values vote has been winning and the results are proven. Americans, vote with your conscience and realize whats at stake. Your neighbours north will be watching and praying.

Faith in Politics

I like this analysis by Lorna Dueck. The video is a panel with Tristan Emmanuel, Iain Benson, and David Haskell discussing should religion and politics mix before the 2006 election. Christians have not been treated fairly in Canadian political life. We need to continue to promote the message that Christian perspectives must be heard in a country where we were founded on Judeo Christian foundations.

Manitoba Marriage Commissioner Ordered to Perform Gay 'Marriages' Fights in Court for Freedom of Religion

By Gudrun Schultz
WINNIPEG, Manitoba, October 19, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) -A Manitoba marriage commissioner who lost his licence last year when he refused to perform homosexual “marriages” has taken his fight for religious freedom to the Court of Queen’s Bench.
The province ordered Kevin Kisilowsky, 36, to conduct marriage ceremonies for same-sex couples or hand in his licence, under a 2004 policy adopted by the province following the legalization of homosexual “marriage.” An evangelical Christian, Kisilowsky said his right to freedom of religion under the Charter was violated by the policy.
“I’m just one of these Canadians who’s finally had enough,” Kisilowsky said in an interview with the Winnipeg Sun‘s Tom Brodbeck, published October 18. “Enough’s enough.”
While the government permits churches and religious clergy to opt out of performing same-sex marriages, it doesn’t allow individuals the same freedom. That is a clear violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Brodbeck says, which guarantees “freedom of conscience and religion” to every individual.
Kisilowsky filed a complaint with the Manitoba Human Rights Commission in 2004, arguing that the province was discriminating against his religious beliefs by forcing him to conduct marriage ceremonies that went against his faith.
The commission rejected his argument. Kisilowsky is now appealing in court, and has said he will take his case to the Supreme Court if necessary.
Brodbeck points out that anyone over the age of 18 can get a marriage commissioner licence, including temporary weekend licences, which allow them to perform a marriage. Having the licence doesn’t obligate them to use it, unless they’re asked to perform a same-sex ceremony--in that case, the province says they must agree to participate.
“I think of what (former federal justice minister) Irwin Cotler said a couple of years ago,” Kisilowsky said. “He said you can’t allow equality rights to trump religious rights, and yet that’s exactly what’s happened.”
The outcome of the case is likely to have a significant impact on the religious freedom of marriage commissioners across the country. At least 12 Manitoba commissioners resigned after the province introduced the policy in 2004. In Saskatchewan at least eight resigned, and resignations followed similar policies in Newfoundland and British Columbia.
